UNITED WE STAND
When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change;
at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened
or in saying that we are not yet ready.
The challenge will not wait."
- Paul Coelho

About and Who Is Our Blue Orb
Our Blue Orb is a fledging organization of like minded people who are forming a synergistic cooperative for preservation and improvement of Earth’s environment and the ecology. Together we shall marshal our efforts and the resources to achieve that goal. OurBlueOrb.org is setting up a Board of Directors as we continue to outline and define our goals, objectives and mission.
Our Blue Orb will publish a register of nonprofit and for profit foundations, charities and businesses and provide links directly to their websites. There will be no finder’s fees, commissions or "affiliated partnerships" associated with the linked referrals provided. If one of our links is utilized, the user will be sent directly to the organizations’ website without tracking intervention or privacy concerns. Links to organizations we see as in harmony with our mission are posted for convenience.

Celebrate Earth Day Every Day of the Year!
A time must come in earthly evolution
when it will be impossible for one individual
to enjoy things on the Earth at the
expense of another.

Personal information:
Since the first Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 1970, I’ve spent my entire life in close harmony with ecology. For me and my fellow Baby Boomer college students Earth Day was an very real awakening. For more than 50 years I have wondered what more I could do to effect a positive change that would make a measurable impact on the environment. So, I founded this organization to accomplish life goals.
"Millions of Americans, including students from thousands of colleges and universities, participated in rallies, marches and educational programs across the country… Earth Day was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, a staunch environmentalist who hoped to provide unity to the grassroots environmental movement and increase ecological awareness. ‘The objective was to get a nationwide demonstration of concern for the environment so large that it would shake the political establishment out of its lethargy,”
Senator Nelson said, “and, finally, force this issue permanently onto the national political agenda… The 1962 publication of Rachel Carson's book Silent Spring--about the effects of pesticides—is often cited as the beginning of the modern environmental movement in the U.S. Sustainability, organic eating and the “back-to-the-land” movement continued to gain steam throughout the 1960s.
The first Earth Day indeed increased environmental awareness in America, and in July of 1970 the Environmental Protection Agency was established by special executive order to regulate and enforce national pollution legislation. Earth Day also led to the the passage of the Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts."

The "Earthrise" photograph we love so much was put in the public domain by NASA and was taken by astronaut William Anders on December 24, 1968 on the Apollo 8 during the first crewed mission that orbited the moon.
"In Life's 2003 book 100 Photographs that Changed the World, wilderness photographer Galen Rowell called Earthrise "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken".[12][13] Another author called its appearance the beginning of the environmental movement.[14] Fifty years to the day after taking the photo, William Anders observed, "We set out to explore the moon and instead discovered the Earth."[15]
